research & development projects in open-source environments

merlinux is an association of software developers and managers working in research-oriented projects. We are mainly involved in two projects:

• PyPy, the next-generation secure, fast and flexible Python Interpreter and VM implementation framework. We aim to bring new security, speed and memory saving technologies to Python.
• py.test and the py lib, the popoular testing tool and development library, used by companies and developers around the world. Our goal is to increase development productivity and quality of code.

Due to our deep involvement and enthusiasm also for Python in general, we are prepared and very motivated to carry out related contract work. merlinux subcontracts developers and managers internationally. Both core merlinux people and other contractors work from their living place of choice and regularly meet up at conferences or for 3-7 day intense coding meetings, called "sprints". We collaborate through various internet channels, syncing methods and tools.

We are dedicated to free and open source developments and care for fair interaction with communities and development groups.
