PyPy PyPy: Secure and Fast Virtual Machines

The PyPy project aims to provide

  • the next-gen Python implementation
  • the next-gen implementation platform for dynamic interpreters and scripting languages

Founded in 2003, merlinux people have contributed and continue to contribute to this challenging project. From 2004 till 2007 the PyPy research project received co-funding by the European Union. merlinux co-managed a consortium with 8 international partners and carried out a major fraction of the technical work.

merlinux people continue to be strongly involved in the ongoing open source PyPy project project in 2008. We collaborate with Open End, our swedish partner employing Samuele Pedroni and Beatrice During, in order to move the PyPy project forward. We carry out major parts of the implementation work for the recently secured Google funding, providing CTypes support and getting more applications like Django to nicely work on top of PyPy. We also organise the distribution of travel funding for PyPy sprinters and generally support community activities.

We are reaching out to several key users and providers of the Python language in order to bring PyPy to the mainstream.

pytest py.test: the test automation tool

py.test is a mature popular tool aiming to to support an agile, fast and joyful development experience. It is part of the py lib which has been majorly developed by merlinux people under an open source license. py.test drives PyPy's over ten thousand tests and is used by many companies and individuals throughtout the world.
